I have come to the conclusion that my rifle was made in 1966, the fore end cap is possibly ebony, and the white spacers in the PG cap and at the butt plate are possibly ivory. These firearms were meticulously manufactured (hence their demise) by hand, and handle and shoot like it.

I have not handled a prettier, perfect functioning, inherently accurate rifle, not to say they don’t exist. The drawbacks are that I would never take it in the woods, or hunting at all I am sure, and I am MOST careful when I do take it to the range.

I don’t believe in collecting firearms to admire them, I don’t judge those that do, I believe in using the tool for it’s purpose, at least keeping the bore in use by punching holes in paper. Though I had a rocky start with this rifle due to a loose stock and shooting loads heavier than I was comfortable with, I have found this rifle to be a joy to shoot with the right ammunition. It goes with me to the range each time, if only for a few or ten rounds.

Remove the bolt by pressing the bolt stop on the left side of the receiver and pulling the bolt all the way clear. Remove the magazine by pushing a wooden pencil against the hole in the aft end of the floor plate and rotating the floor plate 90 degrees When you have the floor plate rotated, pull out on the magazine assembly and remove the magazine. With a narrow screw driver, unscrew the screws that hold the trigger guard in place. Be sure to use screw drivers that match the slots in the screws!!!! Rotate the trigger guard 90 degrees when removing the aft screw, then lift the trigger guard free.
