The main purpose of the thesis was the analysis of the current situation in the PKN Orlen company and creating the development strategy by means of different strategic analysis tools in the two areas: - Ideas for the chain development. - Canvassing of young customers. The thesis consists of 3 major parts – the analysis of the main market determinants, the analysis of the environment and the company itself, the synthesis of the conclusions and recommendations. In the first part of the thesis there have been analysed phenomena and the trends which influence the supply, the demand and the price of oil at the local as well as the global level. Additionally, there have been used the methods of the statistical analysis in order to determine the time of reaction of the market on the increase/decrease of the price of the fuel vs the changes of the retail price of the fuel and fluctuation of the Brent oil prices and the USD/PLN rates vs the changes of the wholesale price of the fuel. In the last chapters of the first part of the thesis there have been also described the fuel taxes in the European Union, the structure of the fuel prices in Poland and the motor market in Poland – including the emerging electric cars segment. The second part of the thesis includes the review of the tools used for the analysis of the macro and micro-environment of the Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN – PESTEL, Porter’s five forces and McKinsey’s value chain.

In each of the analysis the particular stages are finalized with the review of the conclusions resulting from the discussed areas.
